🌌 《Wrestling with God, Walking with a Limp》

A Literary Devotional Narrative in English

He was left alone.
The brook behind him,
his family ahead.
And his heart—
terrified.

Esau was coming.
With four hundred men.
And Jacob?
Still the same trickster,
still grasping.

Or so he thought.

The darkness wasn’t silent.
A man appeared—
no words,
just movement.
And suddenly they were locked—
not in hate,
but in holy tension.

All night they wrestled.
Jacob clung,
gritted his teeth,
refused to let go.

“I will not let you go unless you bless me.” (Genesis 32:26)

The stranger touched his hip.
Pain exploded.
Jacob fell—
but didn’t release.

“What is your name?”
“Jacob.”
“No longer. Your name will be Israel,
because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” (v.28)

Morning broke.
Jacob limped toward the sunrise.
Changed.
Marked.
Named by heaven.

He called the place Peniel.

“For I saw God face to face,
and yet my life was spared.” (v.30)

The man who once grabbed at heels
now walked with holy humility.
Not because he won the fight,
but because he held on long enough to be changed.
