⚖️ 《When Wages Deceive, God Remembers》
A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
Fourteen years of labor,
two wives,
and still, Jacob stayed.
He asked for wages—
not riches,
just fairness.
But Laban’s smile
was lined with schemes.
“Name your wages,” he said. (Genesis 30:28)
And Jacob named the speckled,
the spotted,
the rejected.
Laban agreed—
then sent them away overnight.
But Jacob was not alone.
While sticks were peeled
and troughs filled,
Heaven watched.
And God multiplied the weak.
The unclean.
The overlooked.
Jacob’s flocks increased.
His sons were born.
And resentment brewed.
“Jacob has taken everything our father owned!” (Genesis 31:1)
The Lord spoke.
It was time to go.
By night they left—
quiet feet,
silent herds,
Rachel’s secret idols beneath her saddle.
And Laban pursued.
But God met him on the way.
“Be careful not to say anything to Jacob,
either good or bad.” (v.24)
So they met.
With rocks,
not swords.
And made a covenant—
Mizpah.
“May the Lord watch between you and me
when we are apart.” (v.49)
