🌌 《Stones for a Pillow, Heaven for a Roof》
🌌 《Stones for a Pillow, Heaven for a Roof》
A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
Dust clung to his sandals.
Fear pressed in from behind.
Jacob was alone—
no tent,
no fire,
no mother’s voice to soothe the ache.
Only wilderness.
Only stars.
He gathered stones,
stacked them into a rough pillow,
and laid his head down.
The silence wrapped him—
until the dream shattered it.
A stairway.
Glorious.
Stretching from earth to the heavens.
And angels—
not gliding,
but ascending and descending,
as if the traffic of heaven
passed through Jacob’s broken life.
At the top…
the Lord stood.
“I am the Lord…
I will give you and your descendants this land.
I am with you.
I will watch over you.
I will not leave you.” (Genesis 28:13–15)
No rebuke.
No demand for apology.
Only promise.
Jacob woke.
Tears crusted his lashes.
He sat up, trembling.
“Surely the Lord is in this place—
and I was not aware of it.” (v.16)
He took the stone pillow
and made it an altar.
Poured oil on it.
Called the place Bethel—
House of God.
Where guilt lay down,
grace stood up.
Where fear began,
faith was born.
