🐍 《The Staff and the Throne: Moses Before Pharaoh》
— A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
The desert dust still clung to his robe.
His hand still remembered the heat of the bush that did not burn.
His heart still trembled at the name:
I AM WHO I AM.
And now—
after 40 years of silence and exile,
Moses stood once more at the gates of Egypt.
But not as a prince.
As a prophet.
Beside him walked Aaron,
his brother,
his voice,
his courage when his own faltered.
They passed by monuments of stone,
idols of gold,
and soldiers who once may have feared his name.
Now he was just a shepherd.
But he carried a staff
that had touched fire
and heard the voice of heaven.
The throne room of Pharaoh gleamed.
Cobra-crowned.
Silk-draped.
Terrifying.
But Moses did not bow.
He looked the king in the eyes and said:
“This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:
Let My people go,
so that they may hold a festival to Me in the wilderness.”
The court erupted in laughter.
Whispers.
Mockery.
Pharaoh sneered:
“Who is the LORD,
that I should obey Him and let Israel go?
I do not know the LORD,
and I will not let Israel go.”
But the God of the bush had not sent Moses to ask permission.
He had sent him to make a demand.
Moses stretched out his staff.
Aaron cast it down.
It became a serpent, writhing on polished stone.
The magicians did the same.
Their staffs became snakes.
But Moses’ serpent swallowed them all.
A sign.
A warning.
A foreshadowing.
Pharaoh’s heart hardened.
But heaven had begun its move.
What would follow:
Blood, frogs, darkness, death…
Not because Moses was powerful—
but because God was present.
And it all began
with a man who once said,
“Please, send someone else.”
Now standing before a king—
fearless,
faithful,
sent.
