💔 《Seven Years for Love: Jacob, Rachel, and Leah》
💔 《Seven Years for Love: Jacob, Rachel, and Leah》
— A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
Jacob arrived with nothing.
No home.
No inheritance.
Only a blessing spoken by an aging father,
and a dream of angels on a ladder.
He came to the land of the east seeking refuge—
and instead,
he found her.
She was drawing water at the well.
Her eyes like the sea.
Her smile like spring.
Rachel.
Jacob wept the first time he saw her.
Not because she was beautiful—
but because she felt like hope.
He met her father, Laban,
who welcomed him as kin.
And when Laban asked,
“What shall your wages be?”
Jacob answered without hesitation:
“I will work seven years for Rachel.”
Seven years.
For one woman.
But to Jacob,
they passed like days.
Because love—
true love—
makes the weight of waiting feel light.
Then came the wedding.
The feast.
The dancing.
The veiled bride.
But in the morning light,
Jacob awoke to someone else.
Leah.
Her eyes were soft,
but her heart had long lived in her sister’s shadow.
Jacob stormed to Laban.
“Why have you deceived me?”
Laban shrugged.
“It’s not our custom to marry the younger before the firstborn.
Work seven more years, and you may have Rachel too.”
Seven more years.
Fourteen in total.
Jacob agreed.
Because sometimes love
endures injustice to grasp joy.
So Jacob loved Rachel.
But Leah was his wife too.
And God—
God saw Leah.
Not just her tears,
but her worth.
He opened her womb.
And from her came sons.
From her came Judah.
From Judah would come the Lion.
Jacob’s tent was full of tension.
Two sisters, one husband.
Jealousy.
Desperation.
Rivalry.
But through it all—
God was weaving redemption.
He was shaping a nation
out of heartbreak and hope.
And the man who once deceived
was now being refined by waiting,
by longing,
by love.
