🌾 《A New Land, an Ancient Promise: Jacob Settles in Goshen》
— A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
The land of Egypt stretched before them—
fertile, foreign, and full of promise.
Goshen.
Green pastures.
Flowing waters.
A place prepared… not by chance, but by providence.
Jacob and his family—seventy in all—entered not as beggars,
but as guests of the king,
welcomed by the one they once betrayed.
Joseph stood at the front—
not just a son,
but now a shepherd for a nation.
He knew Egypt.
He knew Pharaoh.
And he knew how to place his family
in favor and protection.
He prepared the meeting with wisdom.
“When Pharaoh asks your occupation,” he told them,
“say, ‘We are shepherds.’
So you may dwell in Goshen—apart, but secure.”
Joseph understood both worlds.
He honored his heritage
while navigating power.
And Pharaoh…
approved.
“The best of the land is yours,” said the king.
“Let them dwell in Goshen.
And if any among them are skilled,
let them be over my own livestock.”
So they settled.
The family of Abraham.
In Egypt—but not of Egypt.
In a land not their own—yet under God’s hand.
Then Joseph brought Jacob to Pharaoh.
The old man, weathered by sorrow and faith,
stood before the most powerful ruler on earth.
Pharaoh asked:
“How old are you?”
Jacob replied:
“The years of my sojourning are 130.
Few and evil have been the days of my life,
and they have not attained to the days of my fathers.”
And then…
he blessed Pharaoh.
A shepherd blessed a king.
In Goshen, they thrived.
Fed by Joseph’s wisdom.
Sheltered by God’s hand.
The famine raged on,
but in the land of Goshen,
there was peace.
A remnant was preserved.
A promise was kept.
And the story of redemption… continued.
