🔥 《The Gate Closed: The Fall from Eden》
— A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
The garden had never felt this quiet.
Not when it first bloomed.
Not when Adam first opened his eyes.
Not even when Eve laughed under the trees, chasing butterflies on her fingertips.
But now—
a different silence had fallen.
It was the silence that follows a breaking heart.
Adam and Eve stood side by side,
yet something stood between them.
Something they couldn't name.
Something heavier than fear.
Shame.
The fig leaves they wore itched their skin—
not because of texture, but because they weren’t enough.
They could hide their bodies,
but not their souls.
God walked toward them.
The same sound they once ran to—
now made them cower.
“Where are you?”
The question echoed.
Not because He didn’t know,
but because He wanted them to hear it themselves.
Adam stepped forward.
“I was afraid. I was naked… so I hid.”
Eve looked down.
“I listened to the serpent… I took and I ate.”
God was silent for a moment.
Not with anger—
but with sorrow so ancient, even the trees wept.
Then came the curse.
To the serpent: “You will crawl. And one day, her seed will crush your head.”
To Eve: “In pain you will bring forth life.”
To Adam: “The ground will resist you. Sweat will feed your hunger.”
And to them both:
“From dust you came… to dust you shall return.”
But before they left,
God did something unexpected.
He reached out.
Not with wrath,
but with tenderness.
He clothed them.
Not with leaves—
but with garments of skin.
A life had been taken.
Blood had been shed.
It was the first sign.
Grace had survived the fall.
Then came the moment no heart could bear.
The gate.
The angels.
The flaming sword that turned in every direction.
The path to Eden was sealed.
Adam turned.
Eve held his hand.
Tears welled in both their eyes.
Behind them—
home.
Before them—
a wilderness.
But above them, and even still within them—
a promise.
One day, Eden would be opened again.
And the One who guarded it…
would one day hang on a tree,
so that we might walk through the gate once more.
