🤝 《The Embrace That Undid the Years》
A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
Dust trailed behind the caravan.
Jacob's hands trembled
as he arranged the gifts.
Hundreds of animals,
in waves—peace offerings before the storm.
And then he saw them.
Four hundred men.
And Esau.
Would he strike first?
Would he remember the stolen blessing?
The decades of silence?
Jacob bowed.
Seven times.
Not as a trickster,
but as a brother undone.
And then—
Esau ran.
Not with a sword,
but with arms outstretched.
“He threw his arms around his brother’s neck and kissed him. And they wept.” (Genesis 33:4)
Tears said what words could not.
The anger melted.
The years collapsed.
Not everything was healed,
but the curse was broken.
Jacob spoke gently,
“Seeing your face is like seeing the face of God.” (v.10)
Because forgiveness
always reflects the divine.
