🧺 《A Cradle on the Nile: The Birth of Moses》
— A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
It began with a decree.
Cold. Ruthless. Absolute.
“Every Hebrew boy—
cast him into the Nile.”
The cry of newborns
was no longer joy,
but dread.
But one couple—Amram and Jochebed—
dared to believe that their son’s life
was not the end of hope,
but the beginning of deliverance.
When the baby was born,
his cry pierced the fear.
His mother looked into his eyes—
and saw something divine.
“He is a fine child,”
she whispered.
“Too precious for the river.”
For three months,
she hid him.
Every creak of the floor,
every knock at the door,
could mean death.
But then came the moment
no mother should ever face:
Let go…
or watch him die.
She wove the basket
with tears and prayer.
Lined it with pitch,
like Noah’s ark,
to float, not sink.
She kissed his forehead.
Placed him in the reeds.
And let the current
carry her faith.
But the Nile—
meant for death—
became a river of redemption.
Pharaoh’s daughter came.
She saw the child.
He cried.
And she was moved.
“This is one of the Hebrews’ children,”
she said.
But she did not call the guards.
She called him son.
Miriam, the sister hiding in the reeds, stepped forward.
“Shall I find a Hebrew woman to nurse him?”
And Jochebed,
the mother who released in faith,
was returned to her son—
paid to nurture the deliverer of nations.
The boy grew.
And he was named:
Moses.
“Drawn out of the water.”
But more than water—
he would draw a people out of bondage.
