Before he spoke,
before he offered,
before he entered the Holy Place—
he dressed.

Piece by piece,
layer by layer,
he put on not just fabric,
but calling.

First came the linen tunic—pure white.
Then the sash around the waist.
Then the blue robe,
with golden bells and pomegranates swaying at the hem.

Each sound a reminder:

“He is alive.
He is moving in the presence of God.”

Then came the ephod—woven with gold, scarlet, blue, and purple.
On each shoulder,
a stone:
one for six tribes,
the other for the rest.

Their names engraved,
pressed against bone.
The priest carried Israel into the holy.

Over his chest,
the breastpiece—twelve stones,
one for each tribe.
Set in gold,
resting over his heart.

And finally,
the turban,
with a golden plate inscribed:

“HOLY TO THE LORD.”

He looked like no other man in the camp.
Not because he was greater—
but because he would stand
between
a sinful people
and a holy God.

He was their representative.

And later,
a greater High Priest would come.
Not clothed in gold,
but in flesh.
Not with twelve stones,
but with nail-pierced hands.
Still carrying our names
before the Father.
