🍞 《Bread in the Morning, Meat in the Evening: The Provision in the Wilderness》
🍞 《Bread in the Morning, Meat in the Evening: The Provision in the Wilderness》
— A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
The sand stretched endlessly.
The sun rose hot and unrelenting.
And the people, once again, began to grumble.
“We should have stayed in Egypt.”
“At least there we had food.”
“Did God bring us out here to starve?”
They had seen the Red Sea part.
They had tasted sweet water at Marah.
But hunger…
hunger made them forget.
Moses heard their cries.
And so did God.
That night, the wind blew strange.
Low, fluttering sounds filled the camp.
Quail.
Thousands of them.
Covering the ground.
The people caught them easily—
meat for the first time in weeks.
A meal born not of hunting,
but of grace.
But that was only the evening.
The real wonder came with the dawn.
The camp stirred as the first light kissed the desert.
And there, lying like frost on the ground—
thin flakes, white and mysterious.
“What is it?” they asked.
And Moses answered:
“It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.”
Manna.
Heaven’s provision.
Sweet like honey,
enough for each day.
Not too much.
Not too little.
“Gather only what you need,” said Moses.
“And do not keep it overnight.”
But some did.
And it rotted.
Because trust was the true ingredient.
Day after day, manna came.
Faith was tested,
not in gathering,
but in waiting.
And every Sabbath,
a double portion reminded them:
Rest is holy, too.
In the wilderness,
God didn’t just give bread.
He taught them how to be fed.
Not by what their hands could earn,
but by what His love could give.
