😤 Another No-Decision?! Paul Skenes Delivers 10 Ks, But Still Stranded by Silent Bats
😤 Another No-Decision?! Paul Skenes Delivers 10 Ks, But Still Stranded by Silent Bats

At this point, it feels like a bad prank. Paul Skenes, the Pittsburgh Pirates' generational pitching talent, is putting up elite numbers — yet the win column refuses to budge.
On July 7 (KST), Skenes took the mound at T-Mobile Park in Seattle and dominated the Mariners over 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 10 strikeouts, and zero runs. It was yet another masterpiece by the 22-year-old phenom. And yet... no win. Again.
🧊 Bats Go Silent… Again
Despite Skenes’ dominance, the Pirates’ offense went completely flat — just like they have for much of the season when he pitches. Since his last win on May 29 vs. Arizona, Skenes has now gone seven straight starts without recording a win. In that stretch, he’s racked up strikeouts, minimized damage, and shown frontline stuff — all for nothing in the box score.
📊 Numbers That Scream 'Cy Young Candidate'
Forget his 4-7 record — Skenes is pitching like the best arm in the National League. Just take a look:
-
ERA: 1.94 – 1st in the NL, 2nd in all MLB
-
Innings: 116.0 – 2nd in NL & MLB
-
Strikeouts: 125 – 4th in NL, 8th in MLB
-
WHIP: 0.92 – 2nd in NL, 6th in MLB
-
Quality Starts: 12 out of 19
-
16 games with 2 earned runs or fewer allowed
If not for the Pirates’ anemic offense, he could easily be sitting with 10+ wins and leading the Cy Young conversation.
⚠️ Pirates Make (Unwanted) History
Pittsburgh’s offensive woes aren’t just hurting Skenes — they’re rewriting MLB history in the worst way.
After sweeping the Cardinals with three consecutive shutout wins, the Pirates turned around and got swept by Seattle — three straight shutout losses. According to Sports Illustrated, this is the first time in MLB history that a team followed a three-game shutout sweep with a three-game shutout loss in back-to-back series.
Following the 0-1 loss to the Mariners, Pittsburgh now sits at 38-53 (.418 win percentage), stuck in the basement of the NL Central.
🤯 "Is This a Hidden Camera Prank?"
Baseball fans can’t help but feel sorry for Skenes. Social media is buzzing with disbelief — how can a pitcher with video game stats have just 4 wins?
Whether it's bad luck, poor run support, or both, Paul Skenes deserves better. At this rate, even a Cy Young Award may not come with double-digit wins, unless something changes fast.
