🕯 《Anointed to Stand: The Ordination of the Priests》
— A Literary Devotional Narrative in English
It was not a throne,
not a battlefield,
not even a pulpit.
It was a tent,
and within it, a man knelt—
trembling.
Aaron had seen fire fall from heaven.
He had held the golden calf.
He had known shame.
And yet… today,
he would be clothed for service.
Moses stood before him,
not as a brother,
but as a prophet obeying God.
He brought forth:
-
A bull for the sin offering,
-
Two rams—one for burnt offering, the other for ordination,
-
And a basket of unleavened bread.
Aaron and his sons washed.
Then they dressed.
One layer at a time—tunic, sash, robe, ephod, breastpiece, turban.
Set apart.
Moses anointed the tabernacle—
its altar, its utensils, even the basin.
And finally,
he poured oil on Aaron’s head.
It ran down his beard.
Like Psalm 133 would later remember:
“It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on Aaron’s beard.”
Then came blood.
The blood of the ram of ordination
was applied to their right earlobe,
their right thumb,
and their right big toe.
They would hear differently.
Serve differently.
Walk differently.
The meat was cooked and eaten before the Lord.
For seven days,
they remained at the tent.
Waiting.
Watching.
Remembering that this was not a promotion—
but a holy burden.
And when the eighth day dawned,
they rose not just as men,
but as priests of the Living God.
